In a wild and crazy couple of days where pretty much every college and pro sport has suspended games and operations due to coronavirus concerns...

The Waterloo Black Hawks’ 2019/20 season was temporarily put on hold Thursday as the United States Hockey League evaluates the COVID-19 coronavirus situation and how to proceed in the best interests of fans, players, coaches, officials, and staff.

The Black Hawks’ home games on Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14 against the Sioux Falls Stampede, as well as Tuesday, March 17 versus the Des Moines Buccaneers, are postponed, with makeup dates to be determined as the situation evolves. All other USHL games this weekend are similarly suspended. “As we have seen throughout this week, events have developed quickly and unpredictably,” said Waterloo Black Hawks Head Coach P.K. O’Handley. “These circumstances are unprecedented, so we want to take the best interests of all into account. We all look forward to the chance to get back to action as soon as we can.”

A raincheck/make-good policy for Black Hawks tickets will be announced once the scope and duration of the postponement comes into focus. Meanwhile, all fans are asked to hold their purchased tickets for the time being.

“We are thankful for the many thoughtful expressions we have received from Cedar Valley hockey fans, who have been very understanding about this situation,” said Black Hawks President of Business Operations Joe Greene. “There are many reasons Black Hawks fans are the greatest in hockey, and I think we will see more of those reasons in the days ahead."
