UPDATE: When another shooting took place just two days ago on March 22 in Waterloo, little information was released to the public.

All that was provided was that it took place on West 2nd Street, a 41-year-old man was shot in the abdomen and killed, and police were called at 4 a.m. to report the incident that morning.

KWWL released more extensive news today: "Waterloo police identified the victim as 41-year-old LaVance Cooper. ... Police have charged 58-year-old Dorray Cooper with First-Degree Murder and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. "

The report included that police were investigating the area of the shooting until 1 p.m. on Tuesday. The crew observing said that investigators entered and exited the residence several times, collecting items.

People living in the neighborhood were understandably shaken by the incident. One resident said this to the news station:

To be not even a block away and to wake up to sirens and my fiancé saying there is a shooting, it could have been us. You don't expect anyone to be shot less than a block away from your house. It could have been a stray bullet and I am just thankful it was not one of us.
