UNI’s Second-Leading Scorer, Noah Carter Enters Transfer Portal
Noah Carter has been a key piece to the UNI basketball program since his freshman season in Cedar Falls, and this year, he broke onto everyone's radar in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC).
In his third season with the Panthers, Carter averaged 15 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. When it was shared that Austin Phyfe would receive minimal minutes due to conditioning issues set on by the long-haul effects of COVID-19, Carter stepped in and started at the center position. He typically was known as a combo forward, having the capabilities of playing the small and power forward positions.
Even with the significant shift in his role, Carter shined, earning a spot on the MVC Second-Team this season.
Now, he's decided to enter the transfer portal. Again.
Last year Carter entered the portal for a brief stint, but quickly took his name out and decided to return to the program for another season.
Last season when he entered, he averaged 11.2 points and 5.7 rebounds per contest.
Carter will likely be coveted by a multitude of high-level programs, as he is a versatile, 6'6, 229-pound forward who can hold his own in the post as well as shoot well enough from deep to garner respect from opposing defenses.
It also appears that Noah's father is out on the recruiting trail for his son, replying to a tweet from head coach from Kansas State men's basketball, Jerome Tang:
Noah's brother also posted this tweet after UNI's final loss of the season in the second round of the NIT to BYU:
Noah did not post anything on his own personal page until two hours after the initial report.
It is important for fans to remember that though a player enters the portal, they maintain the right to return to their original program, as Carter has done once before. It is without a doubt that UNI would take him back in a heartbeat.
