Black Hawk County authorities are investigating a wrong-way crash that injured two people on Interstate 380 late Tuesday.

Sheriff’s officials said both drivers suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the accident. They were air-lifted to a Waterloo hospital, but one was later transferred to University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.

Tuesday's crash happened just before midnight near mile marker 65, southeast of Raymond. According to sheriff’s officials, a Lexus sedan was driving south in the northbound lanes and collided nearly head-on with a Nissan pick-up truck going the right way.

The accident closed the northbound lanes of I-380 for nearly three hours while the site was being cleared of debris. During the closure, traffic was diverted to eastbound U.S. Highway 20.

Black Hawk County sheriff’s deputies were assisted by Evansdale Police and Ambulance, Gilbertville firefighters, and Waterloo Fire Rescue.
