For many people, today will go on like any other day, whether they drink some beer, or they don't, but for those of us who care and pay attention, it's a day of celebration.

National Beer Day is celebrated in the United States on September 28th, just in time to enjoy some of the fall beers that are coming out.

If not a fall beer like Oktoberfest, there's all kinds of beers you can try: Porters, Ales, Lagers, Stouts, Bocks, IPA's. All kinds of beers.

Beer History

The history of beer goes back at least 5,000 years or so. Historians have found papyrus scrolls with early beer recipes.

By the Middle Ages, beer had made its way to Europe, where it was widely drank as an alternative to the possibly contaminated water (or at least, that's what they told their wives.) It was around that time that the German monks became master brewers who perfected the methods we use today.

How To Celebrate:

  1. Brew Some Beer - Stop at your local brewing supply store, pick up a kit, and try your hand at brewing.
  2. Drink - This should go without saying.
  3. Order a Flight From A Brewery You Haven't Been To - Go enjoy some delicious craft beer, maybe even at a place you haven't been yet. Get a flight, so you know what they do best.
