This College Is Accepting Peanut Butter In Lieu Of Parking Fines
Imagine paying a parking ticket with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Sounds ludicrous right? Well one college in Alaska doesn't think it's that crazy. In fact, they're encouraging it. The University of Alaska Anchorage is accepting donations of "any nut-butter, almond, cashew, peanut butter, or any flavored jam, jelly or marmalade". The donations must be commercially produced, unopened and can not be past the expiration date.
Just two jars can erase up to $10 worth of fines and five jars can eliminate up to $60 worth of fines. The school is running the campaign through the end of this week and all the donations will go to the UAA Emergency food Cache at the Student Health and Counseling Center. If you're going to be paying these fines either way, you might as well make it worthwhile. You can feed a family instead of paying an extra sixty bucks to a school that, trust me, doesn't need it. I applaud the school for extending this option to its students.
