Tannerite Gender Reveal Rocked Neighborhood, Cracked Foundations
Neighborhoods in several different southern New Hampshire towns were shaken by a random and mysterious explosion on Tuesday night.
Kingston Police Department said that the explosion was caused by a family revealing the gender of their bay through the use of explosives.
Chief Donald Briggs said the blast happened at a company called Torromeo Industries around 7 p.m. Tuesday night, and Kingston residents say they've never heard anything like it.
“It was earth-shaking,” one neighbor on the same road as the explosion told WHDH.
Sara Taglieri and her husband, Matt, live in the home next to the quarry where the explosion went off.
“We heard this god-awful blast,” Sara told WHDH. “It knocked pictures off our walls.”
"It cracked foundations of our neighbors' homes. I don’t know how that’s right," Matt said.
Police say they have seen the video of the gender reveal, and confirm that it is a boy. The method the family used was a blue powder amongst 80 pounds of tannerite.
Just to give you an idea, this is what a few pounds of tannerite will do.
“I’m all up for celebrating having a baby and maybe sometimes I’m a little silly, but that was extreme and too far,” said Sarah Taglieri, who also felt the blast. “My children keep waking up in the middle of the night, swearing that they hear others blasts and that the house is coming down.”
The person who purchased the tannerite has surrendered himself to police, but there's no word on what or if charges will be filed.
Here in Iowa, at least, you can buy the explosive target at any of the farm stores, like Theisen's or Farm & Fleet, and it's cheap too.
