Sheriff Reports a Variety of Charges in Recent Arrests
The Fayette County Sheriff reports recent arrests concerning drugs, a man throwing rocks at cars, 2 women fighting, and people stealing cans from a redemption box.
On Thursday (April 20), 50 year old David Rath of Postville turned himself in to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office. He was wanted on a Fayette County warrant for a Probation Violation. The original charge was Possession of a Controlled Substance-3rd Offense. He was released after posting bond.
Wednesday afternoon (April 19), the sheriff got a report from staff at the Prairie View Residential Center in Fayette, of one of the residents who was throwing rocks at vehicles, and also impeding traffic on 190th Street. Investigating deputies found that 20 year old Haris Covic of Ottumwa was damaging vehicles. He was charged with Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree. Covic was taken to the Fayette County jail and held for a court appearance.
Tuesday afternoon (April 18), the Fayette County Sheriff received a report of 2 women who were fighting in Arlington. Investigating officers discovered that 45 year old Angela Barajas and 34 year old Victoria Dugan, both of Arlington, had gotten into an argument, that became physical. Both women were charged with Disorderly Conduct.
Also on Tuesday afternoon, authorities were alerted of 2 people who were allegedly stealing cans out of the redemption donation box in St. Lucas. 58 year old Nancy Opperman, and 74 year old Donald Lathum, both of West Union, were charged with Theft in the 5th Degree, and summoned into court.
