Semi Rollover In Cedar Falls Traps Waterloo Man
A Waterloo man was injured when the semi tractor-trailer he was driving overturned in Cedar Falls.
Local public safety officers were dispatched to the U.S. Highway 218/Iowa Highway 27/57/58 interchange Monday around 5:30 AM. When they arrived, authorities learned that the driver had just made a delivery in downtown Cedar Falls.
According to a press release, the driver was exiting from 1st Street (Iowa 57) onto southbound Iowa 27/58 when the accident occurred. Authorities said the driver lost control of the rig. The semi flipped on its side, trapping the man inside the cab.
Public safety officials extricated the driver from the semi. He was taken to a Waterloo hospital for treatment.
Authorities did not released the victim's name or the extent of his injuries.
One Injured In Grundy County Crash
An two-vehicle weekend accident on U.S. Highway 20 in Grundy Center injured a central Iowa man. The Iowa State Patrol identified the victim as 25-year-old Johnathan Dolan of Johnston, a Des Moines suburb.
According to a crash report, Dolan was driving a sport utility vehicle eastbound when the SUV was struck by another eastbound vehicle, driven by 49-year-old Brenda Vodraska of Truro. Authorities said the impact of the collision sent Dolan's SUV into a guard rail. Both vehicles came to rest in the median.
Dolan was taken by ambulance to the Grundy Center hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries. Vodraska apparently escaped injury.
The accident happened Saturday just before 4:30 PM near mile marker 214, west of Dike.
The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
