Search Continues For Missing La Porte City Teenager
Authorities and volunteers planned to resume the search for a missing autistic teenager in La Porte City on Monday (April 9, 2018).
Black Hawk County sheriff's officials said Jake Wilson, 16, hasn't been seen since late Saturday. His family told authorities that Wilson went for a walk near Wolf Creek around 8:45 PM and never returned home.
Wilson was wearing a brown jacket, grey sweats and cowboy boots when he disappeared, sheriff's officials said. The teenager is about five-foot-six and 135 pounds.
About 200 volunteers joined law enforcement officials in a community-wide search for Wilson on Sunday, but found no signs of him or his whereabouts. They searched by foot, knocked on doors, and used a drone and kayaks in an attempt to locate the missing teenager.
Authorities were planning to resume the search for Wilson at 8 AM Monday, when they wanted available volunteers to meet at the La Porte City Fire Station. Sheriff Tony Thompson has asked that farmers who live within a five-mile radius of the community search buildings and vehicles on their property.
Anyone with information about Wilson's disappearance should call the La Porte City Police Department at 319-342-2232 or the Black Hawk County Communications Dispatcher at (319) 291-2515.
