Beloved Actor From ‘Field of Dreams’ Dies

News broke on Thursday, May 26th that the Goodfellas and Field of Dreams actor Ray Liotta had passed away at the age of 67.

Born in Newark, New Jersey in December of 1954, the actor was in some of the biggest films of the 20th century. Liotta just recently started seriously making a comeback in major film projects like the Acadamy Award winning movie Marriage Story.

He got his start by studying acting at the University of Miami and graduated from the college in 1978.

Liotta took on multiple television projects and jobs over the next decade, but it all lead him to one of his most iconic roles: disgraced former Chicago White Sox player Shoeless Joe Jackson in Field of Dreams.

The character had a lifetime ban from baseball, and finally got to play ball again in the iconic baseball field outside of Ray Kinsella's Iowa farmhouse. He starred in the movie alongside Hollywood heavyhitters Kevin Costner and James Earl Jones.

It was this quintessential Iowa movie that lead him to his role in the film Goodfellas.

Reports are saying that Liotta died in his sleep overnight. He was in the Dominican Republic filming a movie called Dangerous Waters. The Emmy winner passed either late Wednesday evening or early Thursday morning.

His publicist did confirm that the cause of death is unknown. He leaves behind his 23-year-old daughter Karsen and his fiancé Jacy Nittolo.
