Over 3,000 UNI Students Will Receive Funding From CARES Act

Many students have been displaced during this pandemic. They have lost parts of their school years, had to take online courses, been kicked out of housing due to the pandemic, lost money on meals and housing... the list continues on and on. However, for some Iowa students, they may just be getting a financial relief check in the mail THIS WEEK.

According to a University of Northern Iowa press release, over 3,000 UNI students will be receiving some federal aid this week to put back in their bank accounts thanks to the CARES Act (Coronavirus Aid, Relief & Economic Security). In fact, students may be getting as much as $2,200 in aid starting this week.

As most know, the CARES act was passed in March is providing $14 billion to higher education students across the country. Thanks to this, UNI will be sending out $3.8 million of this funding to over 3,000 students. These students were enrolled in the Spring 2020 semester and completed a 2020 FASFA and have also competed an application for the aid with the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships. The maximum to receive up to $2,200 and most students will be receiving the full amount the inquired about.
