One Killed, Two Injured In Hardin County Crash
An Evansdale man was involved in a deadly accident in Hardin County Friday evening (Aug. 31, 2018).
The Iowa State Patrol said Brian Kerr, 25, was injured when the pick-up he was driving on U.S. Highway 20 collided nearly head-on with another vehicle that crossed the median. Kerr was airlifted to a Mason City hospital for treatment, but the extent of his injuries wasn't released.
According to a crash report, the other driver was killed. Authorities identified the deceased as David Pearson, 54, of Oakland, Neb. A passenger in his vehicle, Cathy Pearson, 54, also of Oakland, Neb., was airlifted to a Mason City hospital to be treated for unknown injuries.
The Iowa State Patrol said the mishap occurred when a tire blew on Pearson's vehicle, causing it to cross the median and enter the eastbound lanes of traffic. The vehicles collided nearly head-on.
The accident occurred around 7:30 PM Friday just east of the County Road S-27 interchange, north of Buckeye.
The crash remains under investigation.
