Oelwein Man Killed In Labor Day Motorcycle Crash

Authorities are investigating a fatal motorcycle accident that claimed the life of an Oelwein man on Labor Day (Sept. 7, 2015).

Oelwein police identified the victim as Rodney Wayne, who died of the injuries he sustained in the crash after being transported to University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics (UIHC) in Iowa City.

The accident occurred shortly after 11 a.m. Monday on an Oelwein city street. According to police, Wayne was southbound in the 400 block of 1st Ave. NW when he lost control of his 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle and struck a utility pole.

Oelwein police and Fayette County sheriff’s officials are trying to determine how the accident happened.
