The NFL has come to a decision the first policy for fans in regards to the coronavirus and the 2020-2021 season. This year, fans attending any NFL game will be required to wear a mask when attending.

In his tweet, McCarthy confirms that across the league, faces will be required to wear face coverings this season.

This mask mandate does not supersede any local or state mandate where NFL teams are located. With 32 teams in the NFL, there is not a clear sense of how many teams with actually allow fans for the 2020-2021 season. Currently, the NFL does not have a policy when it comes to having fans in stadiums during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Atlanta Falcons announced that they will be only allowing 10,000 to 20,000 people per game, with the first 7 to 12 rows empty for the protection or the players, coaching staff and other staff on the sidelines. As of now, other teams like the New York Jets and New York Giants are not allowed to have fans inside of their stadiums due to the current mandate at the state level.

The NFL’s 2020-2021 regular season is scheduled to kick off on Thursday, September 10th featuring the Houston Texans on the road against the Kansas City Chiefs.
