A Floyd County man, convicted of sexually abusing a young girl, has been sentenced to life in prison, plus 30 years.

David Williams, 57, of Rudd was convicted of first-degree sexual abuse in April of this year. Williams allegedly abused the minor girl in 2015 and 2016 when he was living in rural Chickasaw County. Charged were filed against Williams in 2017, after he moved to Rudd.

On Tuesday, Williams was sentenced in Chickasaw County District Court to life in prison without parole, plus another 25 years for third-degree sex abuse. He received five more years for other charges. The terms will run one after the other.

The sentence was enhanced because Williams had a prior conviction of indecent exposure in 2002 in Webster County.

A request for a new trial by Williams' attorney was rejected.
