Wisconsin Youth Coach Sentenced For Federal Child Porn Conviction

St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - A gymnastics coach from Superior, Wisconsin accused of sexually abusing children in Minnesota and Wisconsin has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison.

The US Attorney for Minnesota says 60-year-old George Francis Deppa previously entered a guilty plea to one count of production of child pornography involving the sexual abuse of a 15-year-old. Aggravating factors were presented to the judge during his sentencing hearing that included "a pattern of isolating and, in some instances, drugging his victims."

Under the terms of his plea deal, Deppa also agreed to enter guilty pleas to state charges in Minnesota and Wisconsin involving sexual assaults victimizing at least five other minors. Those criminal cases were filed in St. Louis County in Minnesota and Douglas County in Wisconsin.
