If there were real comic book superheroes in the world, Wisconsin's Milverine would be at the top of that list.

Is There A Super Hero In Wisconsin?

I would dare say that Wisconsin is a unique place that is home to many interesting people. One of those residents lives in Milwaukee. His name is John Hamann but most people in Brew City know him by his nickname "Milverine." He earned the title because he looks a lot like the Marvel superhero, Wolverine

Who Is Wisconsin's Milverine?

Milverine (John Hamann) is a Milwaukee legend. He can be spotted every day walking through the city. He walks everywhere. Daily he'll walk anywhere from 45 to 75 miles. Hamann is a 60-year-old semi-retired construction worker. He injured himself otherwise he would still be working full-time. The man is a health nut who is in incredible shape.

According to onmilwaukee.com,

One day in 2010, John Frank Hamann was approached by a stranger at Veterans Park who excitedly came running up to him with his cell phone. "You’re the Milverine!" the man said.

Hamann was a combination of confused and amused. However, "Milverine" had a pretty nice ring.

When the temperature is 60 degrees or above, Milverine can be seen walking through the city shirtless because he says it just gets way too hot and sweaty for him. He loves Brew City and has no desire to go anywhere else. The legend is also a big fan of Milwaukee sports teams, especially the Bucks. He can be found hanging out in the Deer District for games.

According to tmj4.com,

The Milverine aka John Hamann is a Milwaukee icon. He's an unmistakable figure constantly walking the streets of the Cream City shirtless with his small dog Princess.

He also has his own bobblehead at the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame, there is a beer inspired by him at MobCraft, and in August he threw out the first pitch at a Brewers game.

Goal For 2024

I can't believe that out of all the times I've been to Milwaukee in my life I've never run into the Milverine. I think my goal for 2024 is to meet him and get a selfie. He sounds like a really interesting guy.
