The season 16 'American Idol' winner could not contain her excitement to be back on the stage that gave her her start. It had been three years since she last sang in front of America like that.

"We took it for granted before!" the Idol winner explained.

"...there's an overwhelming sense of gratefulness."

Last month, Poppe shared the news that she would be performing a duet with Caleb for the special. She shared in an exclusive interview that this performance might be her favorite she's ever done.

Poppe and Hutchinson performed the classic Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers duet 'Islands In the Stream' on the show Monday evening. This song pick highlighted Caleb's classic country sound and their natural chemistry.

Plus can we talk about the 1960s glam that Poppe is channeling? Ah-MAZ-ing!

After the performance, Luke Bryan remarked about the duo who was on his very first season of Idol,

"Good to see you guys up there together again!" the country singer said.

"And Maddie, you and Katy are channeling the same hair, right?" Bryan remarked.

"It's totally real! It's all real," Poppe exclaimed jokingly.

"Mine is too!" Katy Perry shot back with a wink.

That wasn't the only similarity between Perry and Poppe that evening. The Clarksville native proudly promoted her new song 'One That Got Away' which came out the previous Friday.

The song has a similar title to a hit Katy Perry track called 'The One That Got Away' and Poppe quickly commented

"Katy, now hold on! I'm not copying your brand completely! It's a different kind of song."

The pop singer and judge played the coincidence off with another sly wink.

No hard feelings...
