Maddie Poppe Breaks Out Of Jail In New Music Video [WATCH]
Maddie Poppe is breaking out of jail in the video for her new breakup anthem.
It's been an exciting few months for Iowa's own Idol Maddie Poppe.
She is just off of a highly praised performance on the 'Great Idol Reunion' special in early May. This marked her first return to the Idol stage in several years.
Of course, her boyfriend who she met on the show, Caleb Lee Hutchinson, joined her for a fantastic rendition of 'Islands In the Stream' by Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers.
And just a few weeks ago the Clarksville native and season 16 'American Idol' winner dropped her first song in several years. The track called 'One That Got Away' is her first piece of new music in THREE years.
The release of her breakup song comes after her own professional breakup with Hollywood Records, the record label that she signed after winning the singing competition show.
While the singer was appreciative of the opportunity, the partnership came with some growing pains.
"Everyone was telling my story for me and I was just singing it," Poppe explained.
With this track and some new music on the horizon, the singer is doing things her way.
"I feel like every song has a big part of me in it and I was able to tell my story."
The Iowa woman will be sharing more of these stories with the Cedar Valley with a unique performance this summer. Scheduled for Friday, July 29th at the Elks Club in Waterloo, this show will have fans enjoying an intimate show with the Idol winner.

Poppe just celebrated another exciting project. The Clarksville girl dropped the music video for 'One That Got Away' on Monday, May 23rd at around noon. Partnering with People Magazine Maddie shared her newest video with the world.
And let me just say...it's a blast from the beginning to the end.
The song follows Poppe's misadventures in prison and her daring escape attempt.
It has everything!
Intrigue...
Drama...
Orange jumpsuits...
But most importantly, a cameo from her own boyfriend Caleb. He plays the interrogator who is trying his hardest to keep her from getting away.
AND blink and you'll miss the nod to her Iowan roots at the very end of the video. A copy of the (fictional) newspaper the Clarksville Times makes an appearance.
