Attention Walmart shoppers! Thanks to a $45 million class-action lawsuit settlement, the retail giant may owe you some money!

The Des Moines Register reports that the lawsuit against Walmart alleged that people who purchased certain sold-by-weight meat products, called weighted goods, and certain citrus sold in bulk, called bagged citrus, paid more than the advertised price at Walmart stores. Here is who is eligible to file a claim in this class action lawsuit.

The Register reports that you can file a claim if you bought weighted goods or bagged citrus in person at Walmart stores in America and Puerto Rico from October 19th, 2018 to January 19th, 2024. Here is what falls under the weighted goods category.

  • beef
  • chicken
  • pork
  • turkey
  • seafood

Here is what is considered bagged citrus.

  • organic oranges
  • grapefruit
  • tangerines
  • navel oranges

The fruit must have been sold in mesh or plastic bags, according to the Register. You can search for what products are covered in the lawsuit HERE.

If you are interested in submitting a claim you can submit yours online HERE. The Register reports that you can also download a form and submit it by mail. All claims must be turned in or postmarked by June 5th, 2024.

So just how much money can you expect to get out of Walmart in this settlement? As with any class action lawsuit, it will depend partly on how many customers submit claims. It also depends on how much weighted goods or bagged citrus you have purchased from Walmart stores, according to the Register. Settlement amounts are as low as $10 and are capped at $500.
