The One Word Iowans Can’t Spell—And It’s Shockingly Simple

One of the greatest inventions of all time has got to be spell check.

I do a whole lot of writing for work, but sometimes I come across a word that really frustrates me and I need an extra hand to spell.

For me, that word is probably "definitely."

Just typing that out, I completely misspelled it on my first try.

Google took a look at the top words that Americans struggle with, and figured out what word was the biggest challenge for people in each state.

It was based off of the top "how to spell" searches online.

Some of the Most Ridiculous

There are a few words on this list and map that I could understand needing to search up online to confirm the proper spelling. New York's most popular misspelled word is "aesthetic."

However, a few of these states have pretty basic words that they cannot spell. After hearing a few, you will be shaking your head like I did when I first came across this.

So, what is the Most Misspelled Word in Iowa?

The word that the people in the state of Iowa have the most trouble spelling is...

...grandma.

If you are one of the people here in the Hawkeye State who struggle with spelling this word, what was the confusing bit?

I could almost see forgetting to include the "d" in grandma, but otherwise it's a pretty easy word.
