Johnson County Campground Ranked Among Best in the Midwest
Iowans love to camp. The season doesn't matter, but obviously, this time of year is the most popular for camping.
The kids are out of school, and the weather is pleasant. It's summer, or camping season, in Iowa.
The folks at the camping website The Dyrt have compiled a list of the top campgrounds in the Midwest, and one Eastern Iowa campground made the cut!
The only one on the list isn't too far, so if you're an avid camper, you're likely well aware of its existence. If not, take note!
A Top 10 Campground in the Midwest
According to the team at Dyrt, only one Iowa campground makes the list of the top 10 in the Midwest.

That campground is F.W. Kent Park and Campground in Johnson County.
Why F.W. Kent Made the List
What makes Kent Park so special?
The article mentions the over 13 miles of hiking trails (including scenic crushed-rock paths and historic bridge crossings).

They also tout the fishing for bass, catfish, bluegill, and crappie, plus swimming and boating/kayaking, it’s a multi-activity haven.
The campground also features 86 electric sites (30/50 amp) on black-topped pads with tables and fire rings that are first-come, first-served at just $20/night.
You'll find pit toilets, a dump station, playgrounds, reservable picnic shelters, and a beach.
Because it's located between the Amana Colonies and Iowa City, F.W. Kent Park has reliable cell service, if that's important to your camping experience. Hey, helps with the selfie-posting game, right?
Who Else Made the List?
A number of Minnesota and Wisconsin campgrounds made the list, along with a couple from Michigan and one from Indiana.
