The Iowa Egg Council Has Announced The Best Omelet in Iowa Winner
The Iowa Beef Industry Council does a 'Best Burger' contest, the Iowa Pork Producers do a 'Best Tenderloin' contest... it's only fair that the Iowa Egg Council gets to host a competition, too!
The Iowa Egg Council has been celebrating National Egg Month with by bringing back their annual the Best Omelet in Iowa contest. Back in April, the council began taking nominations for Best Omelet on their website. They announced the five finalists on their Facebook this week, and they come from all over the state! The finalists include:
- Caroline's Restaurant, Dubuque
- Klunders Kafe, New Hampton
- Eggs & Jam WDM, West Des Moines
- Beggin’ for an Eggin’, Creston
Although all the omelettes look delicious, only one could be named Best Omelet in Iowa. The restaurant that took home the award is Caroline's Restaurant in Dubuque! The award-winning omelet is the Chorizo Omelet, which contains chorizo, green onions, avocado, salsa, cheddar cheese, and hash browns. Congrats to them!
When it comes to omelettes and other breakfast items, we have so many great options here in Eastern Iowa! If you don't want to make the drive up to Dubuque, check out one of the awesome locally owned places in the Corridor. My favorite places to order an omelet are The Breakfast House and Lucky's on 16th. Heck, I even stop and get one from Hy-Vee from time to time!
