Iowa Town Named Finalist for America’s Favorite Small Town
An Iowa city known for its sweet treats is a finalist for the title of 'America's Favorite Small Town'!
Parade Magazine to Name America's Favorite Small Town
Each year, Parade Magazine has its America's Favorite Small Town contest. The Des Moines Register reports that a city must have a population under 250,000 to qualify. After months of voting, an Iowa town has made a list of finalists here in the Midwest. It is known as the 'ice cream capital of the world', but in Iowa, we just call it Le Mars!
Le Mars, Iowa a Finalist for Favorite Small Town
The Register reports that Parade describes Le Mars as a small town where "life is just sweeter." It's hard to ignore the fact that more ice cream is produced in Le Mars than anywhere else in the world! The town has held the title of 'ice cream capital' since 1994.
The Register reports that Parade describes Le Mars as "a community that always welcomes you like family, Le Mars isn’t just the sweetest town because of ice cream — it’s the people, pride, and playfulness that make every visit feel like coming home."
When Will The Winning Town Be Announced?
Regional winners will be announced on June 1st, and the national winner will be revealed on June 12th, according to the Register. The winning town will receive extra July 4th festivities, national media attention, and plenty of sponsor giveaways!
Here's hoping they choose Le Mars. They've already got the ice cream ready to celebrate!
