It's that time of year again!

The weeks leading up to Halloween are chuck full of spooks, costumes, and candy!

Does anyone else buy the candy ahead of time for the trick or treaters, but by the next week it "mysteriously" disappears? Weird how that happens sometimes...

Well, a study has come out that has determined the top candy in each state and the results are shocking (at least for me).

Candy Store puts together a map every single year that consists of the most popular Halloween candy for each state in the country.

Here are the top ten Halloween candies in the country:

  1. Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
  2. M&M's
  3. Hot Tamales
  4. Skittles
  5. Sour Patch Kids
  6. Starburst
  7. Hershey Kisses
  8. Candy Corn
  9. Hershey Mini Bars
  10. Snickers

Some of these are treats you can have all year round, so I don't know if you would think of them exclusively as "Halloween candy" but I digress.

Now What Is Iowa's Go-To Halloween Treat?

My first thought would be candy corn.

I know, a bit of a contentious choice. Since Iowa is one of the top producers of corn in the entire country, I thought maybe that we translate to the candy variety. However, Iowa's apparent top sweet treat is pretty...basic.

Now don't come after me for that hot take!

Iowa's favorite Halloween candy is...Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.

You'd think that Iowans would be huge fans of candy corn since we're the number one producer of it in the entire country, right?

Coming in at second place in the Hawkeye State are M&M's followed by Hershey's Mini Bars in third place.

Roseanne Barr Abandoned Iowa Mansion in Eldon, IA

I fell into a rabbit hole when I found out that Roseanne Barr almost had a mansion in Iowa. After seeing the current state of the property on Facebook, I was amazed that such an extravagant project could be so quickly overtaken by nature. Only two hours away from Waterloo, this abandoned field could have hosted some of the coolest and elite Hollywood parties in the Midwest. The current photos were taken by Gable Fry on a recent trip he took.

A work in progress for several years, last spring saw the opening of Lauridsen Skatepark in Des Moines. Measuring up at 88,000 feet long, this is the largest skatepark in the entire country.
