Today was race day, and fans of both Iowa State University and University of Iowa have been eager to see the second face-off between the two school's Head Football Coaches in the 2Dorks Celebrity Pinewood Derby.

Last year, Iowa State University Head Coach Matt Campbell took the Iowa Scout Trophy in the Cy-Hawk matchup when his car finished the race by two hundredths of a second.

Well, both coaches signed back up this year to take each other on in a grudge match. Kirk Ferentz wanted to even the score, but Matt Campbell was looking to send Iowa State into the history books as a back-to-back winner of the 2Dorks Celebrity Pinewood Derby.

Both racers submitted their school's themed vehicle, signed and all.

This morning, Eastern Iowa watched as the two coaches' cars went head-to-head in a best-of-three bracket.

The first race ended with Kirk Ferentz emerging as the winner, with a time of 3.537 seconds over Campbell's 3.559.

Race number two, saw Matt Campbell as victorious, and staying in for a third race, with a time of 3.534 over Ferentz' 3.558

Finally, after a coin flip would decide the lane placement, with State's wager placed by former State player Troy Peterson, Matt Campbell's car took Lane 1, and Kirk Ferentz' car took Lane 4, where he came victorious with a time of 3.550 against Campbell's 3.555.

Both Coach Cars, as well as all of the other celebrity vehicles, will go on auction June 24th, with all proceeds benefiting the Illowa Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

Since its inception in 2020, the 2Dorks Celebrity Pinewood Derby has raised over $22,000 for our local council.
