An Iowa State Fair Favorite Snack is On Sale — But Not For Long!
There are so many different and unique foods at the Iowa State Fair every year. Whether it's pork chop on a stick, rattlesnake corndog, The Finisher, and just about anything you could ever want to be fried (Oreos, twinkies, avocado slices, etc).
One staple that would fall into a more normal category would be Barksdale Cookies.
The Iowa State Fair website says this of the cookie brand: "Synonymous with the Iowa State Fair, Barksdale's State Fair Cookies are a popular must-have for Fairgoers each year.
Cookies in a cup or bucket have been made by the Barksdale family since 1993, and in 2019, the Barksdale cookie business was gifted to the people of Iowa through the Fair. The chocolate chip recipe is a family recipe, and was made by hand for many years.
In 2021, Barksdale's made over 2.4 million cookies."
For those who love the famous family recipe, you won't have to wait until next year to enjoy the sweet taste of the Iowa State Fair again.
According to a press release, the Iowa State Fair is selling bags of pre-portioned, ready-to-bake Barkdale's Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough for a limited time.
The press release gives specifics on the sale of the cookies: "Each bag includes 36 pre-portioned frozen cookies for $12. Cookies are the same size as found in buckets and cups during the Fair.
