Friday night promises to be another special one for wrestling fans inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The dual meet between the nation's two top-ranked teams has been sold out for a while, and prices have shot up on the secondary ticket market.

Are you ready?! If you're a wrestling fan, I already know the answer to that question. There will be a ton of intensity inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena Friday evening when #1 Penn State visits #2 Iowa. It will mark just the third time in the history of the two programs that they meet ranked #1 and #2 in the nation. This is the first time they've met with Penn State ranked #1.

According to Sports Illustrated, #1 Iowa beat #2 Penn State 35-5 on January 5, 1986. I was lucky enough to attend the other meeting on January 31, 2020. That night, #1 Iowa defeated #2 Penn State 19-17. The state of Iowa is ready for round three.

The Friday night dual in Iowa City begins at 8 p.m., with live coverage on Big Ten Network. Forget that. People want to be there for this one. Tickets are sold out and as of 2:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon, the asking prices are steep on the secondary ticket market. They range from $94 to $486 on Ticketmaster. On StubHub, they start at $76 with the top end $750!

According to Sports Illustrated, almost 112,000 fans have witnessed the last nine meetings between Iowa and Penn State, including four sellouts in Pennsylvania and two in Iowa.

Friday night will be the 10th meeting and the 7th sellout between the two teams in the last 12 years. Nearly 15,000 black and gold clad fans will be packed into Carver-Hawkeye Arena. They'll be hoping to see Iowa get their first win against a top-ranked team since November 14, 2015. A crowd of 42,287 were in attendance at Kinnick Stadium that afternoon to see #3 Iowa's 18 to 16 win over top-ranked Oklahoma State. While considerably smaller, you can bet Friday night's crowd will be just as loud. When the night ends, either Iowa (11-0) or Penn State (13-0) will keep an unblemished record. I'll take the Hawks.
