There's dumb, and then there's "I have no empathy for others and can't see that my actions will have further consequences dumb."

Christopher Hackett of Sioux City, Iowa is the latter.

The 27-year-old is being charged with first-degree harassment-nonconsensual distribution of materials -- which is an aggravated misdemeanor -- after admitting to sending nude photos and video of his ex-girlfriend to her new boyfriend.

According to WHO13, an investigation into the situation was launched this Saturday following a call to the Waukee Police department by Hackett's ex-girlfriend who wanted to report harassment.

An officer spoke to the woman who told him that she and Hackett had broken up earlier this year. Once she started dating her current boyfriend, that's when Hackett started sending the images and videos to him over Facebook's messenger app.

Court Documents obtained by the news station say that the victim asked Hackett about it and he admitted to doing so.

After being contacted by law enforcement, Hackett also admitted to them that he had sent the images and videos. This is what he told investigators, according to WHO13:

I just did that just because I don’t know, I just did because I was dumb.

That's one way to put it, Christopher.

He also claims that he did not send the photos or videos to any other person or people.

Hackett remains held in Dallas County jail on a $2,000 bail.

This case falls into the 'revenge porn' category. For those unfamiliar, revenge porn is defined as "sexually explicit images of a person posted online without that person's consent especially as a form of revenge or harassment," according to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary.
