Four boys high school basketball teams from the Cedar Valley and Northeast Iowa are ranked in this week’s Associated Press poll, released today (Monday, February 2, 2015).

New Hampton is the only area team that improved its position from last week, while there was no change among the other three. The Chickasaws (17-1) moved up one spot to No. 2 in the Class-2A ratings. They garnered three first-place votes and jumped to within one spot of poll leader Aplington-Parkersburg (18-0), the only unbeaten team left in Class-2A.

For the second-straight week, the North Iowa Cedar League (NICL) has two of the four top-ranked teams in the survey. Aplington-Parkerburg clinched the NICL's East Division championship Friday night, while Gladbrook-Reinbeck can claim the West Division title with a victory at Grundy Center Tuesday night. The Rebels (18-0) are the No. 1 team in Class-1A for the third week in a row.

Waverly-Shell Rock (15-2) lost its No. 1 position in Class-3A two weeks ago. but the Go-Hawks still have a solid ranking. For the second-straight week, they are ranked at No. 5.

Two other area teams are close to cracking the top 10. Janesville is the team receiving the most votes among those being considered for the Class-1A poll. Jesup is also receiving votes for the 1A survey.
