Two games against top 10 opponents. Two close losses for the Iowa Hawkeye football team. As expected, the Hawkeyes fell in the latest Top 25 rankings that were released on Sunday night, but not as far as you might think.

After a 10-3 loss to Michigan and Saturday's 17-12 setback against Penn State, Iowa dropped to #22 in the latest rankings. Alabama and Clemson retained the top two spots in the poll with LSU moving up to number three. The Hawkeyes will host a Purdue team that knocked off Maryland recently,  Saturday in Iowa City. The Hawkeyes are early 17 point favorites in that contest.

Meanwhile, the Iowa State Cyclones are on an upswing and now have the same overall record as Iowa. Iowa State earned its second straight Big Twelve victory with a convincing 34-14 win at West Virginia. The Cyclones received votes in the poll for the first time in three weeks. ISU could very well land back inside the Top 25 with a win Saturday at Texas Tech.
