How Much Snow Will Iowa Get This Winter?
Before you know it, fall will be in the rear-view mirror, and we'll be grabbing our snow shovels and winter gloves. Winters in the Midwest are on a whole other level compared to where I grew up.
There are some years where there is very little snow, but the winter is still brutally cold. After a somewhat mild winter in the Hawkeye State, there's a chance that we might be getting a bitter 2023-2024 winter season.
The 'Farmers' Almanac' released its annual extended winter weather forecast for 2024 recently. It seems like this might be a cold winter.
Reports claim that in the latter half of 2023, there is a strong possibility of an El Niño. This could last through the winter of 2024 thus making cold temperatures prevalent throughout much of the United States.
According to National Geographic, an El Niño is a "climate pattern that describes the unusual warming of surface waters in the eastern Pacific Ocean."
While the East Coast is expected to get walloped with snowstorms in the early months of 2024, Iowa is expected to see a cold, average snowfall.
