The 'Farmers' Almanac' released its annual extended winter weather forecast for 2024 recently. It seems like this might be a cold winter.

Reports claim that in the latter half of 2023, there is a strong possibility of an El Niño. This could last through the winter of 2024 thus making cold temperatures prevalent throughout much of the United States.

According to National Geographic, an El Niño is a "climate pattern that describes the unusual warming of surface waters in the eastern Pacific Ocean."

While the East Coast is expected to get walloped with snowstorms in the early months of 2024, Iowa is expected to see a cold, average snowfall.

According to the 'Farmers' Almanac', the total snowfall in Iowa will be around average. So, it is expected that there won't be any major outliers this winter when it comes to snowfall.
