A highway construction project is set to get underway in Black Hawk County.

According to the Iowa Department of Transportation, a seven-mile stretch of Iowa Highway 281 north of Dunkerton is scheduled to close Monday, weather permitting. IDOT officials said in a news release that the construction project involves the replacement of piping and should take about two weeks to complete.

The project is expected to be finished by late September.

During the closure, traffic will be guided around the work zone using a marked detour. County Roads C-57 (Cedar-Wapsi Road) and V-62 (Baxter Ave.) have been designated as the alternate route.
