High Winds Close Black Hawk County Landfill

High wind could cause some problems throughout the area today (Wednesday, March 16, 2016).

Gusts as high as 50 or 60 miles per hour are expected through early evening. A high wind warning is in effect for counties north of U.S. Highway 30 until 7 p.m.

Due to high winds, the Black Hawk County landfill is closed today. In Waterloo, regular Wednesday curbside pickup customers will have their garbage carts picked up on Saturday. All customers are asked to have their carts curbside by 6 a.m.

The wind is coming from a west/northwest direction, so semis and other high profile vehicles travelling north or south should be extra cautious.
