The Davenport Police Department held a press conference this morning to provide an update in the Breasia Terrell case.

Breasia's disappearance last July sparked a community effort to find out what happened to the 10-year-old.

Tragically, the search ended on March 22nd when her remains were discovered in DeWitt.

In an update, the Scott County Attorney Michael Walton stated that Henry Earl Dinkins was charged in the death of Breasia.

Dinkins has been charged with:

  • Murder, First Degree
  • Kidnapping, First Degree

The Davenport Police Department's press release reads:

Scott County Attorney Mike Walton and the Davenport Police Department on Wednesday announced charges in the death of Breasia Terrell. Henry Dinkins has been charged with Murder in the First Degree and Kidnapping in the First Degree. Dinkins has been in custody since July 10th, 2020 on unrelated charges.

"While announcing charges is a significant step in this case, it is important to understand that bringing forth charges is not the end of this process, but the beginning," said Scott County Attorney Mike Walton. "We will continue to work tirelessly to seek justice for Breasia."
