Hawkeyes Erase Early Deficit And Blast Maryland
Thursday night's Iowa game against Maryland made you realize just how deep this Hawkeye team is. Sure you've got Luka Garza, Jordan Bohannon, and Joe Wieskamp. But last night belonged to the players named McCaffery, Toussaint, and Murray.
The Gazette reports that 5th ranked Iowa erased an early 19-9 deficit and went on to route Maryland 89-67. There were great performances all over the Iowa stat sheet. How about those McCaffery brothers? Connor had a career high 10 assists and no turnovers on the night. His brother Patrick had 10 points and played great defense against the Terps. Freshman Keegan Murray had his second straight 14 point game including three dunks that brought his teammates off the bench. Joe Toussaint had a career high 6 steals and was in the Maryland passing lanes all night.
But lets not forget the Iowa stars. Playing his final college game in his backyard of Washington D.C., Luka Garza had 24 points and 7 rebounds. It was his first win at Maryland. Jordan Bohannon hit 5 three point shots in the second half and finished with 18 points. Bohannon has really found his shooting stroke hitting 19 of his last 29 three point attempts.
Iowa improves to 4-1 in Big Ten play and 10-2 overall on the season. The Hawkeyes will look to avenge their only Big Ten loss this weekend as they host #16 Minnesota at Carver Hawkeye Arena on Sunday. Tipoff is set for 1:30 p.m.
