Good news cat lovers: A study has proven there's no scientific evidence backing up the 'crazy cat lady' stereotype. And for Iowans, particularly ones on a farm who have barn cats galore, this is good news.

Researchers at UCLA found that people who own or take care of cats, whether it's one cat or a whole bunch, actually didn't have any higher rate of mental or social problems than people with dogs, other pets, or no pets at all. That is good news for anyone hoarding felines.

Dog owners, fear not either. Regarding both cats and dogs, the study says quote,

Our findings do not fit with the notion of cat owners as more depressed, anxious, and alone...
(Having a dog is) often viewed as 'healthy' and 'beneficial' in motivating owners to get extra physical activity.

So there you have it. I guess this study means, there must be a different reason why you are crazy. 😉
