There’s a full moon this Friday night, September 13th!

A Full Moon on Friday the 13th is rare. The last time this happened in Iowa was in the year 2000. The next time there’s a full moon on Friday the 13th won’t be until August 13, 2049.

The full moon in September is known as the "Harvest Moon." The forecast is predicting mostly clear skies on Friday night.

If you're now wondering, "When was the most recent time we've had a full moon on Halloween?" You'd have to go back to the year 2001. The next Halloween full moon will occur NEXT YEAR!
