Foul Ball Ends Up In Fan’s Beer, So Naturally He Slams It
A fan of the Cincinnati Reds followed the unwritten rules of baseball spectatorship on Monday when a foul ball went into the stands.
Chicago Cubs first baseman Alfonso Rivas was up to bat against Cincinnati Reds pitcher Vladimir Gutiérrez. A pitch came down the pipe and Rivas made contact, but the ball went foul and headed for the stands along the third baseline.
Just like any time the ball goes into the stands, everybody around puts their hands up in an attempt to take home a game-used ball. Well, nobody was able to get their hands on it for the catch, and the ball bounced away, down in front of a guy who was just minding his own business.
The ball somehow managed to make it into a plastic pint glass in a cupholder on the back of a seat. The average pint glass is 3.25 inches, with the average MLB baseball requirement being 3 inches. That literally leaves almost no margin for error for a one-in-a-million landing.
Well, as Reds fans know, as Cubs fans know, as damn near every baseball fan knows, if a ball ends up in your beer, there's one option for you:
CHUG! CHUG! CHUG!
And that's exactly what this guy did.
To the cheers of the entire stadium, this guy slams his beer, at least as much that will come out, since the ball is acting as sort of a cork to stop the flow of the Lord's Nectar from reaching his lips.
