Last season the Sacramento Kings were virtually injury-free on their way to the overall #3 seed in the Western Conference. This season, the Kings have been hit hard by injuries and were dealt another blow on Tuesday night, this time to rising star Keegan Murray.

The Sacramento Bee reports that the Kings saw their six-game winning streak come to an end at the hands of the New Orleans Pelicans, 129-93. The Bee points out that Murray had a tough task on Tuesday night as he was asked to slow down the Pelican's top scoring threats in Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram. He didn't have much luck as the two combined for 57 first-half points. Murray tried to keep pace with his deadly outside shooting.

But after halftime was over, Murray did not come out of the Kings locker room. The Bee reports that he was later ruled out of the game with what the team describes as a lower back injury. Kings head coach Mike Brown did not have an update on Murray after the game saying only that Keegan would likely undergo further tests on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old Murray was drafted 4th overall by Sacramento in the 2022 NBA Draft out of Iowa. In his first NBA season, Murray averaged over 12 points per game and was named the NBA All-Rookie First Team. He also set a new NBA record for most three-point shots made during a rookie season.
