A woman in Florida was arrested after making 12,512 phone calls to the St. Petersburg Police department just this year.

According to a court document, the woman identified as Carla Jefferson, age 51, "harasses, belittles, swears, and argues with" whoever picks up her incessant calls to the non-emergency lines of the St. Petersburg Police department and the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

10% of the incoming calls to the St. Petersburg Police come from Jefferson.

In the month of July Jefferson called the precinct 512 times within a 24-hour span. Operators described her phone calls as "vulgar, threatening and obscene."

Jefferson's phone calls have been holding up the phone lines for the citizens calling with real emergencies. Her typical calls include "extreme expletives" and "sexual innuendos."

Calls to 911 are always answered and never ignored. It is a 911 operator's job to handle called-in emergencies and send the appropriate authorities to the scene.

Spokesperson Yolanda Fernandez reportedly told Fox 13 the operators are "talking to people who are scared, who are on the worst day of their life because they need police. And on top of that, they have to deal with somebody who's just calling to harass them."

Jefferson was arrested two months ago for this same offense but is currently out on bond. Jefferson received a notice informing her that her actions will result in prosecution.

After Jefferson received the notice she called the precinct and insisted officers come to arrest her because she "loves playing this game," and then refused to answer the door when officers arrived.

Jefferson was charged with three misdemeanors for misusing the 911 system and for making harassing phone calls.
