Four Hurt In Black Hawk County Accident

Also over the weekend, a four-vehicle, chain-reaction accident south of Waterloo sent four people to hospital. The crash happened Sunday morning on U.S. Highway 218 in front of the Pronto Convenience Store in Washburn.

According to Black Hawk County sheriff’s officials, a Kia rear-ended a Dodge Avenger that had stopped behind another vehicle that was making a turn into the convenience store. The impact of the crash pushed the Dodge into a Chevy Sport Utility Vehicle and trailer, which was making the turn. After the initial collision, the Kia turned and ran into the Chevy SUV, causing front end damage.

Authorities said three people were transported by ambulance to area hospitals with injuries, the extent of which they didn't disclose. A fourth person was taken to a hospital by private vehicle for assessment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials didn't identify anyone involved in the accident, which remains under investigation.
