One person has died in a two vehicle accident near Dunkerton.

It happened just before 12:30pm Thursday (July 1), at the intersection of County Roads C-57 (Cedar-Wapsi Road) and C-49 (North Raymond Road). According to the Iowa State Patrol, a westbound car on C-57 failed to yield at the stop sign, and was struck by a northbound sport utility vehicle.

Authorities confirmed one person in the car was killed in the accident; their name has not yet been released until relatives can be notified.

One person in the car was injured, and a person in the SUV was also injured. Again, no names have been released.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Dunkerton Fire and EMS, Readlyn Fire and EMS, Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office and Iowa DOT.
