Fatal Accident Involving a Car and a Pedestrian in Oelwein
NOTE; STORY UPDATE
One person has died after being struck by a car in Oelwein.
The accident happened at about 5:45pm Tuesday night (May 11), in a parking lot at 108 1st Street SW in Oelwein.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, a pedestrian was crouched down in front of a vehicle. When the driver attempted to leave the parking lot, the car struck the pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a 54 year old Oelwein resident, was taken to MercyOne Hospital in Oelwein, where the victim was pronounced dead.
No names have been released yet, and the accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol, with assistance from the Oelwein Police Department.
