Celebrate American Craft Beer Week at a CV/NE Iowa Brewery [List]

There's nothing better than kicking back with your favorite "cold one" after a long day's work. This week, we celebrate our fellow Iowan inventive entrepreneurs who have taken their love of beer to the next level.

Back on National Beer Day, we talked about the origins and different types of beers you enjoy. Then, in another article, we ranked the 15 best beers made in Iowa. There's a lot of very good ones! Plus, recently, there was the news that the craft beer tent will return at the Iowa State Fair and it's going to be much bigger during the fair this August.

It's American Craft Beer Week - Celebrate Locally

Now, this week, beer lovers everywhere celebrate American Craft Beer Week now through Sunday. As we take the time to salute the over 100 craft breweries that call Iowa home. It's a nationwide celebration of U.S. small and independent craft brewers. The great thing is, you don't have to go far for a GREAT craft brew with many FANTASTIC local breweries to go enjoy a lovely beverage at, right here in the Cedar Valley and northeast Iowa.

There's no judgement, there's no "beer shaming" here, but I will say, there's such a wide variety of Iowa-made craft beers out there, you have to be able find one you like. Ok, so maybe a little "beer shaming", put down the Busch Light and take a chance! The great thing about this is...there really is no right or wrong...as a wise man once said, "beauty is in the eye of the beer holder"!

It's a quote that rings true, "Local Beer is Better". Why? Because you're supporting your friends and neighbors. Heck, you might even personally know the brewmaster of your favorite local beer. How cool is that? The "dive bar" down on the corner might have it's own place in society, but they're quickly being replaced by local breweries with unique themes and spacious taprooms. This radio station took a (very) informal poll on our Facebook page and here's a list of the most popular places in the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area to wrap your hands around a giant delicious burrito. You'll notice that they're listed in alphabetical order because it's hard to say that one is better than the other. Except for those cheap frozen burritos you can find in your grocer's freezer, those are truly disgusting. Especially, when you compare them to these local creations made with fresh ingredients and tender loving care. There's a surprising amount of fantastic Mexican restaurants in the area, let's check them out.
