Fairbank Man Dies In Accident Near School

An accident just inside the Bremer County line near Fairbank, has taken the life of a Fairbank man.

It happened at about 8 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of County Road C-50 and Yukon Avenue, northwest of Fairbank, near the Wapsie Valley School.

A vehicle driven by Jedidiah Wilson, 22, collided with a pick-up driven by Kenneth Franck, 59, also of Fairbank. According to the Iowa State Patrol, Wilson failed to stop at the stop sign.

Franck's pickup rolled onto its top in a ditch.

Wilson was air-cared to Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, where he died from his injuries.

Franck and his passenger, Dixie Franck, 58, were both taken to Unity Point-Allen Hospital in Waterloo for treatment. Authorities say the Franck's were buckled-in, but Wilson was not.
