Driver Seriously Hurt After Crashing into School Bus
A motorist is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after they crashed into the back of a school bus Monday afternoon (Oct. 24).
According to the Linn County Sheriff, the accident occurred just before 3:45pm Monday, on Dubuque Road, just west of Springville.
An eastbound car rear-ended a school bus that had 6 student passengers.
Only one of the students was injured; the student was taken to Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the car, a female whose name has not been released, had to be extricated from the vehicle. She was transported to St. Luke's Hospital with what are described as life-threatening injuries.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts; names will be released after relatives can be notified.
The accident remains under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff.
