Class 3A Title: Xavier vs. Sergeant Bluff-Luton – BOXSCORE

Cedar Rapids Xavier claimed the Class 3A state championship for a second-straight year, beating Sergeant Bluff-Luton, 54-49, at the Iowa High School Boys State Basketball Tournament Saturday evening (March 11, 2017).

The Saints secured the title by making a pair of defending stops in the closing seconds of the game after junior point guard Matt Mimms scored on a driving lay-up with 41 second left.

The game featured 21 lead changes and the score was tied three times.

Sergeant Bluff-Luton was appearing in the tournament for the first time.
