2020 Iowa High School Football Rankings – Poll 4
There was a noticeable shake-up in this week's Associated Press Iowa high school football poll. Two teams that didn't play Friday night lost their No. 1 rankings.
The squads impacted by the balloting were Dallas Center-Grimes in Class 3A and Don Bosco, which has led the 8-player class all season. The defending state champion Dons have won 15-straight games (13-0 last year). Don Bosco has outscored its two opponents 152-6 this season, but somehow fell to second in the latest survey.
Audubon (4-0) jumped into the No. 1 spot, despite having fewer first-place votes. The Wheelers received more overall points than Don Bosco did. The Dons got seven first-place votes, which was four fewer than last week.
Overall, 10 teams from the Cedar Valley and northeast Iowa are featured in the latest survey. Six others received votes for the top 10, but just missed being ranked.
Gladbrook-Reinbeck moved up one spot in the 8-player poll, climbing to No. 9. The Rebels (4-0) recorded their 19th-straight district victory Friday night, an 8-6 decision over Collins-Maxwell.
There was either no or minimal movement involving the other ranked area teams. Grundy Center (4-0) leads the Class A poll for the fourth-consecutive week. Unbeatens South Winneshiek (No. 4), Edgewood-Colesburg (No. 5) and Wapsie Valley (No. 6) are all ranked behind the Spartans. MFL-Mar-Mac (3-1) re-entered the rankings at No. 9.
The other rated teams from the area, Decorah (No. 8) and West Delaware (No. 10), are both featured in the Class 3A poll.
